How to Configure Registration Fields in BuddyBoss

Introduction

Customizing registration fields in the BuddyBoss Platform allows you to collect specific information from users when they sign up for your community.

This guide will walk you through adding new fields, modifying their visibility, and customizing how they appear in the registration form.

Configuring Registration Fields

Add a New Registration Field

  1. Navigate to BuddyBoss > Profiles in your Dashboard.
  2. You will see three default fields.
  3. Click Add New Field to create a custom field.
  1. Enter a Field Name (e.g., Social Links).
  2. Choose whether the field is optional or required during registration.
  3. In the Type section, select Social Networks (this enables options like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter).
  4. Under Visibility, select Public if you want this field to be visible on members’ profiles.
  5. Click Update to save changes.

Verify the Registration Form

  1. Click Sign Up to view the registration form.
  1. All fields added under Profile should now appear in the form.

Customize Field Labels for Registration

  1. In BuddyBoss > Profiles, locate the field you want to modify.
  2. Click Edit next to the field.
  1. Enter a new label in the Alternate Title field (this controls how the field appears on the registration form).
  2. Click Update.
  1. Reload the registration form to see the updated label.

Note: Changing the Alternate Title affects only the registration form. The original field name remains unchanged in user profiles.

Allow Users to Update Login Information

  1. Navigate to Profile > Account > Login Information.
  1. Users can update their email and password at any time.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Q: My new field is not appearing on the registration form.
A: Ensure the field is added under BuddyBoss > Profiles and is not set to Admin Only visibility.

Q: The Alternate Title change is not reflecting.
A: Refresh the page and clear any caching plugins that may be storing an older version of the form.
