Introduction
The Advanced Profile Search feature in the BuddyBoss Platform allows users to search and filter members based on specific profile fields in the Members Directory.
This enhances the user experience by making it easier to find relevant connections, increasing engagement, and helping members discover like-minded individuals within your community.

Configuring Profile Search
Step 1: Enable Advanced Profile Search
- In your Dashboard, go to BuddyBoss > Settings > Profiles.
- Scroll down to the Profile Search section.
- Tick the box to Enable Advanced Profile Search on the Members Directory.
- Click Save Settings to apply the changes.
Step 2: Access Profile Search Settings
- After saving, a link will appear next to Advanced Profile Search.
- Click on this link to navigate to the Profile Search settings page.
Step 3: Add Search Fields
- In the Profile Search settings, click Add Field or Add New.
- Click the Field dropdown menu to see the list of available options.
- Select the fields you want users to search by, such as:
- Last Name (if First Name was previously added)
- Nickname
- Description
- You can add multiple fields based on the profile information you want users to search for.
- Click Update to save the changes.
Step 4: Verify Profile Search on Members Directory
- Reload the Members page.
- The newly added Profile Filter options should now appear on the right side of the page.

Q: Why isn’t the Profile Search appearing on the Members Directory?
A: Ensure that Advanced Profile Search is enabled in BuddyBoss > Settings > Profiles and that the changes were saved. Clear your site cache and refresh the Members Directory.
Q: Can I reorder the search fields?
A: Yes. In the Profile Search settings, drag and drop the fields to reorder them as needed.
Q: How do I remove a search field?
A: Go to Profile Search settings, locate the field you want to remove, and click the Remove button next to it. Don’t forget to Update the settings.
