The Export Data feature in the BuddyBoss Platform helps website owners comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). GDPR mandates transparency in how personal data is collected, used, and shared. It also grants individuals the right to access and control their personal information.
This guide explains how members can request and download their personal data and how administrators can process these requests.

Requesting an Export of Personal Data
Navigate to Export Data
- Click on your profile dropdown menu.
- Go to Account > Export Data.
Request Data Export
- On the Export Data page, click Request Data Export.
- You will receive an email from the website with a confirmation link.
- Click the link in the email to confirm your data export request.
- Once confirmed, the site administrator will be notified.
Sending the Export Link (Admin Process)
Access Export Tools
- From the WordPress Dashboard, go to Tools > Export Personal Data.
Send the Export Link
- Locate the user’s request.
- Click Send Export Link to process the request.
- A confirmation message will appear.
User Receives the Data Download Link
The user will receive another email containing a secure download link to their personal data.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Q: A user didn’t receive the confirmation email. What should they do?
A: Ask the user to check their spam/junk folder. If the email is still missing, ensure that your site’s email settings are properly configured.
Q: The export link is not working. What now?
A: The link may have expired. The user should submit a new export request and confirm the process again.
Q: Can an admin manually generate and send personal data?
A: Yes, an admin can manually process requests from Tools > Export Personal Data and provide the user with their data if needed.
