How to Configure Messaging Settings in BuddyBoss

With support for media-rich interactions, including photo uploads, emojis, and animated GIFs, messaging becomes more dynamic and expressive. Key Features of Private Messaging

BuddyBoss Platform’s Private Messaging allows users to:

  • Send Direct Messages to other members for one-on-one communication.
  • Share Media such as photos and animated GIFs to enhance conversations.
  • Express Emotions using a wide range of emojis for more engaging interactions.

Step 1: Accessing Private Messaging

  1. Navigate to the WordPress Dashboard > BuddyBoss > Settings > Messages
  2. Activate Message Access by selecting which members should have access to send messages to other members, based on their WordPress Role, Profile Type, GamiPress, Membership, and Member.
  3. Click on Save Settings to apply the changes.

Step 2: Sending a Direct Message

  1. Click the Messages icon or My Icon on the BuddyBoss Panel to access the Messages page.
  2. Search for the name or group of the recipient you want to send a message.
  3. Type your message in the message box and hit enter or click the send button to deliver the message.

Step 3: Attaching Media to Messages

  1. Click on the Media Upload icon to attach photos, videos, documents, or GIFs.
  2. Select a file from your device and click Open to add it to the message.
  3. Confirm the upload and send the message.

Tip: Use media to make your messages more expressive and engaging.

Step 4: Using Emojis and Show Formatting Option

  1. Click on the Emoji icon within the message box.
  2. Browse or search for the desired emoji and click to insert it into your message.
  3. For the formatting option, click the Show formatting icon. Style the text by clicking the Bold, Italic, Unordered List, Ordered List, Blockquote, Link, and Preformatted Text

Troubleshooting

Q: Why can’t I send messages to some users?
A: Ensure the recipient’s privacy settings allow messaging. Some users may restrict who can message them.

Q: My media files are not uploading. What should I do?
A: Check the file size and format. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, and GIF. Ensure your internet connection is stable and try again.

Q: Emojis are not displaying correctly. How can I fix this?
A: Clear your browser cache or try using a different browser. If the issue persists, check if your BuddyBoss Platform is up to date.
