How to Configure General Platform Settings in BuddyBoss

The General Settings section of the BuddyBoss Platform allows you to configure essential options such as enabling account deletion and managing toolbar visibility for different user roles.

Enable Account Deletion

Allowing members to delete their accounts gives them more control over their data. Follow these steps to enable this feature:

  1. Navigate to BuddyBoss > Settings > General.
  2. Under the General Settings section, check the box for Account Deletion.
  3. Click the Save Settings button at the bottom of the page.

How Account Deletion Works

Once enabled, members can delete their accounts from the front-end:

  1. Go to a member’s profile dropdown.
  2. Hover over Account and select Delete Account.

  1. On the Delete Account page, check the confirmation box to acknowledge the consequences.
  2. Click the Delete Account button to finalize the process.

Manage Toolbar Visibility

The toolbar can be shown or hidden based on user roles. Follow these steps to configure toolbar visibility.

Show Toolbar for Logged-in Admins

  1. In BuddyBoss > Settings > General, check the box for Show Toolbar for Logged-in Admins.
  2. Click Save Settings.

Note: When an administrator (e.g., John) logs in, the toolbar will be visible.

Show Toolbar for Logged-in Members (Non-Admins)

  1. In BuddyBoss > Settings > General, check the box for Show Toolbar for Logged-in Members.
  2. Click Save Settings.

Note: When a regular member (e.g., Charles) logs in, the toolbar will be visible.

Show Toolbar for Logged-out Users

  1. In BuddyBoss > Settings > General, check the box for Show Toolbar for Logged-out Users.
  2. Click Save Settings.

Note: When a user logs out, the toolbar will be visible. If unchecked, the toolbar will not be displayed for logged-out users.

Q: Why don’t my changes reflect after saving?

A: Ensure you click the Save Settings button after making changes. Try clearing your browser cache or refreshing the page.

Q: Why can’t a member delete their account?

A: Verify that the Account Deletion setting is enabled in BuddyBoss > Settings > General.
Confirm that you have administrative privileges on your WordPress site. If the option is missing, update your WordPress version or consult your hosting provider.
